The best perfumes under €50 (really recorded prices)
CK One at €20, Azzaro pour Homme at €36, Opium at €84… no, that one does not make it. Here is what the catalogue gives when you filter on genuinely recorded prices, real bottles only.
“Cheap perfume” selections have a recurring flaw: they compare incomparable things. A 100 ml bottle at €45 and a 7 ml miniature at €12 are not the same purchase, and yet both readily appear in the same lists.
So we set a strict rule before looking at anything.
The criterion
A perfume appears here if it meets three conditions:
- An offer under €50 at our partner retailers.
- On a bottle of at least 30 ml — not a miniature, not a gift set, not a sample.
- A complete page: scent pyramid and accords recorded, so that you can check what you are buying.
Ranking is by ascending price. Nothing else.
What the filter excluded. Without the volume condition, the list began with about ten references at €8 — in reality samples with no declared volume. It is exactly the kind of detail that turns a useful selection into a trap.
Under €25
CK One — Calvin Klein, eau de toilette, 1994 — €20 Citrus, musky, aromatic, woody, fruity. The cheapest perfume in the catalogue with a real volume, and one of the most influential ever launched: it popularised unisex with the general public. Fresh, clean, hard to fault.
Joop! Homme — Joop!, eau de toilette, 1989 — €21 Gourmand, citrus, floral, warm spicy. The exact opposite of the previous one: sweet, dense, instantly recognisable. You love it or you flee it, rarely in between. At €21, the experience is worth trying.
CK Be — Calvin Klein, eau de toilette, 1996 — €21 Aromatic, musky, woody. Three accords, a deliberately minimal composition. Darker than CK One, just as all-purpose.
CK Everyone — Calvin Klein, eau de toilette, 2020 — €23 Amber, woody, citrus, musky. The house’s most recent offering on this ground.
Shaghaf Oud — Swiss Arabian, eau de parfum, 2017 — €24 Amber, woody, fruity. The most clearly oriental on the list, and the only eau de parfum under €25. If you want to discover the amber register without committing €150, it is an honest way in.
Amor Amor — Cacharel, eau de toilette, 2003 — €24 Floral, amber, citrus, musky. A warm fruity floral, very legible.
From €25 to €30
Zino — Davidoff, eau de toilette, 1986 — €25 Woody, amber, citrus, floral. A classic 1980s woody, more crafted than its price suggests.
Noa — Cacharel, eau de toilette, 1998 — €25 Floral, woody, gourmand, musky. Soft, powdery, discreet.
Ralph — Ralph Lauren, eau de toilette, 2000 — €26 Floral, woody, fruity, musky. A fresh floral that is very easy to wear every day.
Champion — Davidoff, eau de toilette, 2010 — €26 Woody, citrus, floral, gourmand.
Adventure — Davidoff, eau de toilette, 2008 — €26 Woody, aromatic, citrus, warm spicy.
Obsession — Calvin Klein, eau de parfum, 1985 — €27 Amber, warm spicy, floral. A monument of the 1980s, opulent and spicy. At €27 as an eau de parfum, it is probably the most interesting pricing anomaly on this page.
Paradiso — Roberto Cavalli, eau de parfum, 2015 — €27 Amber, woody, citrus, floral.
Chrome — Azzaro, eau de toilette, 1996 — €28 Citrus, aromatic, musky. Our choice also kept in the office selection: discreet, crisp, unfailing.
From €30 to €50
Daisy — Marc Jacobs, eau de toilette, 2007 — €33 Floral, fruity, musky, green.
Azzaro pour Homme — Azzaro, eau de toilette, 1978 — €36 Aromatic, woody, fresh spicy, musky. A 1978 fougère still in production, which says a lot.
Chloé Eau de Parfum — Chloé, eau de parfum, 2008 — €38 Floral, powdery, musky, fruity. A modern powdery rose, as an eau de parfum.
Light Blue — Dolce & Gabbana, eau de toilette, 2001 — €43 Citrus, fruity, floral, woody. The best score of our spring selection.
Un Jardin sur le Nil — Hermès, eau de toilette, 2005 — €46 Green, citrus, woody, floral. The only Hermès on the list, and a composition from a great house under €50.
What this table teaches you about the market
Three observations, drawn from the dates.
Most of these perfumes are over fifteen years old. It is probably no accident: an old perfume has paid off its launch, its distribution is broad, and competition between retailers probably does the rest. The best lever for paying less is not the discount, it is age.
Eau de toilette dominates massively. Fifteen of the nineteen references above. Our price-per-millilitre surveys show why: eau de toilette costs 40% less than eau de parfum per unit of volume.
Eaux de parfum under €30 exist, but they are rare — Obsession, Paradiso, Shaghaf Oud. When you come across one, look at it seriously.
Prices recorded in July 2026 at our partner retailers, on bottles of at least 30 ml. These prices change.
For some of the perfumes mentioned, the notes, years and concentrations are taken from unofficial sources (not from the house); the relevant page says so.
