About Olfact

The right perfume isn't
a matter of luck.

Olfact was born from a conviction: too many people choose their perfume blindly, swayed by a bottle or an advert. Our job is to make perfume legible — so that you find the one that truly suits you, and understand why.

“No one should ever wear a perfume without understanding it.”

Perfume is one of the most intimate languages there is: it says who we are before we even speak. Yet the world of perfumery often remains opaque — a wall of bottles, insider vocabulary, contradictory reviews. Olfact exists to open that door, with clarity and rigour.

Our mission

Discover, understand, choose

Three simple gestures, one promise: to turn you into an informed enthusiast, able to put words on what you love.

01

Discover

Scent families, great houses, 4,000 years of history: explore the richness of perfume and awaken your curiosity.

02

Understand

Notes, concentrations, accords, sillage: we decode the language to give you the keys to reading a fragrance.

03

Choose

A questionnaire that starts from your tastes to guide you towards perfumes truly made for you — with no pressure.

What sets us apart

One stance: honesty

Independent

We sell no perfume and no brand funds our recommendations. Our pages and rankings come from the composition of the perfumes, not from any commercial arrangement.

Educational

From complete beginner to seasoned enthusiast, every page is designed so that you leave knowing something more.

Rigorous

A carefully kept encyclopedia, real sources, editorial writing. Perfume deserves better than copied listings.

Personal

No imposed trends. Our advice starts from your sensibility, never from what the market wants to sell you.

A fragrant composition in soft light
The founder's word

Olfact is a labour of love, which I am building step by step. I wanted to build the site I would have liked to find when I first became interested in perfume: clear, honest, beautiful, and taking the time to explain.

My ambition fits in one sentence: to make Olfact a reference for perfume, in French and now in English, and to share this passion with as many people as possible. Thank you for being part of it.
